Rizen hosting and care

WordPress hosting with a person attached to it.

Three plans, priced in public. What changes between them is how fast you get an answer and how many hours of changes are included, not whether we bother to keep your site safe.

1What it is

Somebody whose job it is to notice.

Hosting is the easy half. Anyone can rent you a server. What you are actually buying is a person who checks that the contact form still sends email after a plugin updated itself at two in the morning.

2Plans

Three plans. Pick by how fast you need an answer.

Every plan includes the same care and update work, set out in full in our care policy. What changes between them is response time and how many hours of changes are included.

3Response

Answering you and fixing it are two different clocks.

Most hosting pages quote one number and let you assume it covers both. It does not, anywhere, so here are both.

  • Response time is how long before a person replies who has actually looked. That is the number in the plans above, and we hold to it.
  • A site that is down is worked on immediately on every plan, including Basic, including a weekend. Nobody waits 48 hours for an outage because they are on the cheap plan.
  • A small change, new text, a swapped photo, a corrected phone number, is usually same day and almost always within two working days.
  • A bug takes as long as it takes to find. We will tell you what we know within the response window and what we think it will take, and then we will keep you posted rather than going quiet.
  • Design or build work gets a written estimate before it starts. Always before, never after.
4Emergencies

What counts as an emergency, and what does not.

Worth agreeing in advance, on a calm day, rather than arguing about at eleven at night.

These are emergencies, on any plan. The site is down or unreachable. It has been broken into or is serving something it should not. Nobody can log in. Payments, giving or bookings are failing. Email from the site has stopped arriving.

These are not, and they go in the normal queue. A layout looks slightly off on one browser. You want a new page, a new feature or a redesign. A plugin you installed yourself is misbehaving. Something has looked wrong for three weeks and today became urgent.

If you are not sure, treat it as an emergency and tell us. We would much rather look and find it was nothing.

5Terms

The boring parts, stated plainly.

  • Billed monthly, in advance. First month is charged when the site goes live, not when the build starts.
  • Cancel with 30 days notice, in an email. No phone call, no retention conversation, no exit fee.
  • You keep everything. The site, the domain, the database, every login. We will hand over a copy and help you move it. That is true on the day you leave as much as the day you join.
  • We give 60 days notice before any price change, and existing clients keep their rate for at least twelve months from signing.
  • Included hours do not become cash. They roll over one month and then expire. They are there so small jobs never need a quote.
  • Premium plugin licences we buy on your behalf are passed through at cost. No markup, and we tell you before buying anything.
6Questions

Before you ask us.

Do I have to host with you to work with you?

No. We will build your site and hand it over to host wherever you like. We will say honestly that we can do less for you elsewhere, because staging and one click restore points are what make our update process safe, and not every host has them.

I am already paying you $50 a month. What happens to me?

Nothing. You stay at $50 and you keep everything you have now. These plans are for new sites. If you ever want faster response or included hours you can move up, and if you do not, we are not going to come asking.

What is your uptime?

Our host publishes their own figure and we are not going to reprint it as a promise we do not control. What we will commit to is what we actually control: we are alerted when your site goes down on Premium, and we work on an outage immediately on every plan.

Is there a limit on storage or traffic?

Not one you will hit. A brochure site, a church site or a local business site sits far inside the plan. If you are running a shop doing real volume, tell us and we will price it properly instead of pretending it fits.

What if I need more than my included hours in a month?

We tell you before we go over, and anything beyond is quoted at our normal rate and agreed first. You will never open an invoice and find hours on it you did not approve.

Can I move up or down a plan?

Any time, effective the next billing month. Moving down does not cost anything and does not need a reason.

Not sure which plan fits?

Tell us what you have and how quickly you need someone to pick up when it breaks. That one answer usually decides it.

One sentence is usually enough for us to say whether we can help, roughly what it would cost, and whether you actually need us. We reply within one business day, from a person.

We do not sell, share or add you to a list.

Thanks. That is with us, and you will get a reply from a person within one business day.
