Website design and development

Custom websites for Pittsburgh and Southwestern PA businesses, built by hand.

We design and build websites for contractors, shops, restaurants and professional offices across Pittsburgh, the Mon Valley, Fayette, Westmoreland and Washington counties. Fast on a phone, easy for you to edit, and nothing like the template the shop down the street is using.

8The short version

A website that gets the phone to ring, not a brochure that sits there.

Most small business websites in Southwestern PA were built once, by somebody who left, and have not been touched since. Ours are built to be found on Google, read on a phone in a parking lot, and edited by you on a Tuesday night without calling anybody.

9What you get

What a Rizen website includes.

Design drawn for your business, not pulled from a theme

Every site starts as a layout drawn for your trade, your town and the people who actually call you. A roofer in Uniontown and a bakery in Monongahela do not need the same homepage, and they do not get one. We draw the pages, write the copy with you, and build the design exactly as drawn.

Built on WordPress or Webflow, your choice

We build on WordPress for businesses that want the biggest ecosystem and the option of Elementor editing, and on Webflow for businesses that want a lighter, locked-down site with hosting included. We will tell you which one fits before you spend a dollar, and the answer is sometimes neither. If a nineteen dollar template would serve you better, we say so.

Fast on a phone, because that is where your customers are

Most people searching for a contractor, a restaurant or a shop in the Mon Valley are doing it on a phone. Every page we build is measured against Google's Core Web Vitals before launch: fast first paint, no layout jumping around, tap targets big enough for a thumb. Speed is also a ranking signal, so a fast site is a found site.

Written for search from the first draft

Page titles, headings, descriptions, alt text, internal links and structured data are part of the build, not an add-on sold later. Your service pages name the towns you cover and the work you do in plain words, which is what both Google and the people typing into it are looking for.

Forms and email that actually arrive

We have fixed enough sites where the contact form had been quietly failing for a year to know this is where the money goes. Every form is tested end to end, email is set up so it lands in your inbox and not in spam, and the phone number is tappable on every page.

Yours, with every login handed over

The domain is registered in your name. The hosting account is yours. The logins are yours. At launch you get a short screen recording showing how to change a photo, add a page and update your hours. If you ever find yourself emailing us to change a single word, we built it wrong and we will fix it.

10How it runs

From first call to launch, in five steps.

Most builds take four to eight weeks. The number and the schedule are written down before anything starts.

1

A call, then a written number

Twenty minutes on the phone or at your shop. We ask what the site has to do, look at what you have, and send a fixed price and a page list. No hourly surprises.

2

Words and structure first

We write or rework your copy before we draw anything, so the design is built around what you actually need to say. You approve every page of text.

3

Design you can see on your phone

You get a working preview link, not a flat picture. Click through it, show it to your spouse, send it to a customer. Two rounds of changes are included.

4

The build, with testing

We build the approved design, connect the forms and email, set up search and analytics, and test everything on real phones before you see it.

5

Launch and handover

We move the domain, launch, submit the site to Google and Bing, hand over every login, and record a short walkthrough so you can edit it yourself.

11Who it is for

Contractors, shops, restaurants and offices across the region.

The businesses that keep Pittsburgh and the Mon Valley running, most of them with nobody on staff whose job is the website.

We build for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and roofing contractors in Westmoreland and Fayette counties, for restaurants and pizza shops from Belle Vernon to North Huntingdon, for tire shops, insulation companies, fence builders, law offices and medical practices across Washington County and the South Hills, and for the churches and ministries that need a volunteer to be able to keep the site current.

If your business is in Perryopolis, Belle Vernon, Charleroi, Monessen, Monongahela, Donora, California, Brownsville, Uniontown, Connellsville, Scottdale, Mount Pleasant, Greensburg, Washington or Pittsburgh, we have probably already built something for a neighbor of yours. If it is somewhere else in Pennsylvania, the work travels fine.

13Questions

What people ask before they call.

How much does a small business website cost in Pittsburgh?

A custom five to eight page site from a professional in the Pittsburgh area typically runs in the low to mid four figures, and a larger site with menus, booking or catalogs costs more. We give a fixed written number after a twenty minute call, and it does not change unless the scope does.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most of our builds launch in four to eight weeks. The single biggest factor is how fast content and feedback come back, so we write the copy with you early and keep the review rounds short.

WordPress or Webflow, which should I pick?

WordPress if you want the largest ecosystem, Elementor editing, or you may add a shop or membership later. Webflow if you want a lighter, locked-down marketing site with hosting built in. We recommend one on the first call and explain why.

Will I be able to edit the site myself?

Yes. Changing a photo, adding a page, updating hours or a menu is a few clicks, and you get a recorded walkthrough at launch. If you would rather we handle it, that is what the care plan is for.

Do you redesign existing websites?

Yes. Often the best move is to keep what works, fix what is broken, and rebuild only the pages that matter. A website audit tells you which one you need before you spend anything.

Who owns the website when it is done?

You do. The domain is in your name, the hosting is in your name, and every login is handed over at launch. You can leave at any time and take everything with you.

Do you work outside Southwestern Pennsylvania?

Yes. Most of our clients are within an hour of Perryopolis, but the work is the same anywhere, and we build for agencies and businesses across the country.
